We are taking down the garden finally. Looking at expanding for next year- and planning a better herb garden and veggie garden. What better time to do that then winter- I am not sure if I will need to order seeds or not- check out my stash! Do you have a stash? I have filled up the tins as well!
The girls have been laying a steady 4 eggs a day- although it is molt season so I can’t tell who is and isn’t laying. There is 7 in this coop- and poor Spaz hit her first real molt- she looked horrible and there are feathers everywhere!
We feed them a little sunflower seeds in the shell every day!
Did you know you can be frugal and feed your chickens your mums? I bought 3 from my daughter’s fundraiser for music for school- and boy did those girls enjoy them!
The littles are not laying yet- but I keep my eyes peeled every day for eggs! The coops got cleaned out last month. I should show you an after picture if I can- they ate everything down to the stems.
I also found out something was digging- may have been my pooch- near the coops- so I filled in the holes so I don’t step in them. And in the meantime- also got covered in ants from an ant bed! Gracious- we are a hot mess!
Enjoy some pictures below!
I love my chicken socks! I need a few more pairs!
We got our first double yolker!
Shrek has some weird obsessions! We didn’t let this cat out of the bag, he climbed in!
Flowers i got for my birthday! They made my day! Thanks to the hubby for surprising me!
There is cucumber, sweet pepper, okra, cantaloupe, pumpkin, watermelon, and sunflower seeds growing in here!
Fava seedlings! These are from Mike the Gardener, and I am so excited to have Hannibal Lector’s food!
The cherry tomato plant is budding and has lots of tomatoes!
I don’t know but if you look really hard, this one is starting to grow some tomatoes too!
My summer squash plant is going well! It has some small squash starting!
I nursed the cucumber back to health and have to work on it a little more! But it is growing great!
Break time! And I absolutely love my Bogs, but now I need a shorter slip on pair!
Hubby used the tiller and tilled my garden spot! We went back over it and added some manure, 7 bags to be exact! My compost is not ready yet, and we have soil made of clay. this was before the rain hit- so we now have to loosen it back up so I can plant the seedlings and direct sow some more.
Don’t mind my snowflake lights- I have some front porch work to do! I bought the basket at Lowe’s, and we bought some flowers, because the girls love having them, and who doesn’t love a pretty front porch? The other blue hanger- which you can’t see that well, is one I bought off Wish- it has a hole for drainage, and the bottom has a space to keep the soil from coming out! I placed some of our flowers in there.
This will be moved up front after we get the seeds planted in the garden. The pallet holds my plant hangers beautifully! I bought those off Wish as well! I think they are colorful and pretty! The strawberries went into the purple hanger- which matches the blue, and the green is the other strawberry seeds we started- one plant is trying to grow!
I love bright colors if you can’t tell! Teal, any shade of purple and lime green! These are my plants I got from Tractor Supply- there is a banana pepper plant, a watermelon plant, 2 okra plants, a red bell pepper, a green bell pepper, another summer squash, another cucumber, and another tomato. I am going to try my hand at container gardening!
Here is my potato planter, another buy from wish. It has 3 different potato seeds in it. I can’t wait to see how they grow and then fill this up! As they grow, we continue to place more soil, and then when it reaches the top, we can unbury it all!
How is your garden doing? Tips, tricks, comments! I love them all! Questions- ask away! How do you think my Garden is doing? Opinions are accepted- I do well with constructive criticism!
We planted some seeds this past weekend. I am hoping to plant some more this weekend. This was just the beginning. I am late on the bandwagon, but we are hopping along!
This is my strawberry plant. We bought a package that is supposed to have 10 seedlings in it- but they were all bunched up- and I couldn’t tell one root from another. So if you have any tips to separate them, now is a good time! I have planted it in hopes once they grow, I can separate them further.
My mom had bought my girls these seed starters- so we planted them- and I can’t wait to see them grow, so we can strategically place them. Save the bugs my friends! The one on the left is chamomile, and the one on the right is purple coneflower.
We also have some basil started in it’s own little greenhouse. If it all sprouts, I will have plants to share with friends!
This is Tooty’s planter, she picked up from Walmart one time. We have sweet peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes. I am hoping these do well for her sake!
I will be sure to keep everyone updated with the progress. Talking about progress, here is some updated pictures of our bulbs we planted. Gorgeous!!
I was so excited this past weekend- even though we had rain- that it was warmer out. But then..dun dun duh- it got cold again! Blast this cold weather! It needs to decide what it is going to do- and being warmer is my choice.
So the garden plans are still being made- and we have a little work to prepare. We will probably be planting some seeds this weekend. But the bulbs that the girls and I planted in October are blooming! I hope this cold weather does not kill them! I can’t wait to see the rest come in! We are going to be working on that bed this weekend. So enjoy- I can’t wait for the warmth and the pretty flowers and gardening full stream begin!
Do you have any green or pretty colors in your neck of the woods?
The weather is becoming warmer- but then again we still have a few weeks of maybe coldish weather. This is Alabama yall! But this weekend I checked on the bulbs that the girls and I planted in October. They have started, and I am so excited. I can not wait to show yall more!
Don’t mind the mess, this will become my herb bed, and it has some cleaning out that needs to be done. I am hoping we have some good weather this next weekend so I can spend some time cleaning this bed. It is a mess! But look at those bulbs- we planted tulips, daffodils, and iris! I don’t know what we planted in which bucket- but we love surprises! Seeing the green makes me happy! It means spring is almost here!
Have you been noticing the little pops of green? It sure does brighten your day!
It has been extremely crazy. So when my February Shipment came in- I got a little excited! I am hoping to find the time to plan some garden space this weekend. Also to plan how we are going to build raised beds- or if I am going to till and go straight into the ground. It looks like we will be doing a little of both!
My shipment was awesome- I love tomatoes- and Tooty can’t wait to plant the flowers. More basil- I am excited about turnips- and fennel. And the fava beans remind me of Silence of the Lambs- so I may just have to plant those! Tune in for a future post- I may be doing some seed sharing!
Thanks Mike the Gardener- I love my little package I get every month! Something to definitely look forward to!
Fall just happens to be my favorite time of the year- I just love fall. Tooty decided to start decoration for Halloween- and we have so much more to decorate! With fall comes pretty flowers-
Mums that the elementary school sells for music every year- so now that we have the house I can’t wait to find a space to plant them to keep them coming back every year! They are so big and are beautiful!
The lonely Geranium I saved before the dog got it- and have been trying to nurse back to health- it will be planted some time soon…
Front door décor- I painted and sealed the monogram- and that stays up year round!
Part of the front porch- we do happen to love the birdies- and love leaving food out for them- I do have a little more work to do- but here is the start of the front porch decorations.. I am so happy I just had to share. So watch the progress- and look out for some more updates,
Do you have any Fall friendly plants, share some pictures in the comments? What is your favorite part of Fall?
